Put text behind a person in a video with layers

Keep your subject in front while a title moves behind them. The effect is compositing, not a newly generated person.

01

Choose a workable clip

Use a short SDR clip, ideally with a clear subject and limited occlusion. Coqueta accepts up to 30 seconds, 250 MB and 4K dimensions, within its browser and memory limits.

MP4 H.264 is a practical starting point. HDR or unsupported codecs may need conversion first. A short test is faster than processing an entire difficult clip.

02

Separate and inspect the subject

Choose Person and separate the layers. If several people appear, use the subject-selection controls to choose one or keep the group. Higher-precision analysis takes longer.

Preview motion throughout the clip. Pay special attention to hair, hands, fast movement and crossings. Automatic selection can miss details; do not use it as a guarantee of anonymization.

03

Place your title behind the subject

Add a text layer and place it behind the separated subject. Change the wording, size and position, then adjust the layer’s start, end and animation. Keep important text away from the subject’s face.

Use the layer list to select what you are editing. Change stacking order or position without altering the original file. Review visibility on the beginning, middle and end of the clip.

04

Correct and export

Use the cutout correction tools where needed. Corrections can apply to an individual frame; a new tracking point can require separating again. Review the exported result too.

Save the editable project locally before downloading. Export preserves the original dimensions within limits but recompresses the video. This does not upscale it or reconstruct an unseen background.
